General Questions

What is Natural Health?

In the context of PRIMAL Vitality’s protocols, “natural health” involves improving your health and wellness through the use of holistic, biblically-sound natural approaches, non-toxic substances, and non-invasive protocols – and by practicing healthy living.

Natural health looks at the whole person, attempting to identify the underlying causes of imbalanced conditions, and tailoring health recovery plans to the individual while emphasizing prevention and self-care.

How does Natural Health compare to conventional medicine?

Natural medicine has been around for 3,000+ years.  What is referred to as tradition or allopathic medicine has only been around 300+ years.  Natural medicine is for people seeking to improve their health by using a healthy lifestyle, wholesome food, and natural supplements as their medicine to help with various health conditions, rather than pharmaceutical drugs.

Can you help me with my health problem?

If you suffer from a chronic medical condition, if you are frequently ill, tired, or in chronic pain, or if you simply seek to optimize your health, we may be able to help. If you feel you are taking too many prescription drugs, want a more natural approach, or wonder which supplements are right for you, we can help.

Mainstream medical practice does not focus on finding the root cause of illness. The usual medical tests do not look for food sensitivities, hidden infections, environmental toxins, mold exposures, nutritional deficiencies, and metabolic imbalances. Newer testing can uncover underlying elements that can be modified through diet, lifestyle, supplements, or medications.

Should I stop my medications as a client of your practice?

No, you should not. You should always consult with your medical doctor about any changes you want to make with your medications.

Is Michael Lonardo a primary care physician?

NO!  We do not provide primary care services. We will work with you closely as a consultant in preventive, nutritional, and traditional naturopathic medicine to help you address the roots of chronic health problems. We will confer with your primary care doctor and specialist physicians if required.

What about laboratory testing?

We are able to order required labs and you simply visit your local Quest Labs for the blood to be drawn.  Additionally, some labs are performed in-house.   Some testing can be done through conventional laboratories (as mentioned above [ie. Quest], and others are only available through specialty laboratories and some testing will be performed at home with test kits to collect blood, urine, saliva, or stool. During your consultation, Dr. Lonardo will determine which tests are needed and will review testing recommendations, instructions (for instance, fasting or non-fasting, etc.), and costs.

Your financial resources and how much testing you want to do are taken into account, and the plan for testing is reviewed with you. Testing is frequently done to assess nutritional status, including amino acids, fatty acids, oxidative stress, vitamin levels, mitochondrial function, food sensitivities, and heavy metals. Many other tests are available including genetic testing for a variety of conditions, hormone evaluations, bone health, gastrointestinal health, adrenal function, and many others.

Do you sell nutritional supplements?

Yes, we often recommend nutritional supplements to clients in conjunction with lifestyle and dietary modification. In most cases, nutritional supplements can be used in place of more toxic prescription medications. We rely on scientifically based studies to guide our therapeutic decisions regarding nutritional supplementation. We have researched high-quality nutritional products and carry only those that undergo rigorous quality testing by nutritional research laboratories. These products are often of higher quality than those sold over the counter and are free of fillers, allergens, and additives.

Is there anything special I need to know about in-office appointments?

Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. Makeup is fine, however, please do not wear perfume, cologne, oils, or strong fragrance products (including hair products, sunscreens, and lotions) when coming to our office. Many people with allergies are very sensitive to these substances.

Also, please do not bring food or drinks with you that are not a part of your health recovery plan. It is a good idea to drink at least 8 ounces of water within an hour of your appointment.

Parents please do not bring children to your appointment. If a child is coming for an appointment, please do not bring any other children unless you have first consulted with our office staff.

If you are sick or some other emergency arises, please contact us immediately to reschedule your appointment. Your cooperation in these ways is much appreciated.

Do you accept insurance?

At this time, we do not accept insurance. We do accept most major credit cards, Health Savings Accounts, or Flexible Spending Accounts, and we also offer have financing (currently with 24 months same as cash with approved credit).

There are some health share plans that may accept or reimburse you for our charges.  That said we cannot guarantee this. Your coverage will depend on your carrier and the type of coverage you have. Please retain your receipt if you plan to submit a claim to your carrier.

When is payment for your services expected?

Payment is due at the time service is provided. For your convenience, we accept cash, checks, most credit cards, health savings accounts, flexible savings plans and currently offer financing with approved credit.  If paying by credit card, the person whose name appears on the card must be present at the time the card is used, or we must have a signed credit card authorization form signed on file.

Can homeoprophylaxis replace vaccinations?

Homeoprophylaxis is not a substitute for vaccination. There is no credible scientific evidence that homeopathic immunizations prevent infectious diseases. Discuss recommended vaccinations with a licensed medical professional. Read the NCCIH guidance on homeopathic immunizations.

Finally, a DOCTOR is defined as a teacher. A DOCTOR and PHYSICIAN are NOT the same. We do NOT practice as an MD or an OD (both physicians).
